When folding becomes a tool of transformation, it redefines both the appearance and performance of coated steel. At the RRSB Office in Phetchabun, Vaslab Architecture explores the form of folding to achieve an architectural expression marked by bold geometry and unified surfaces.

Based on the concept of a monolithic structure—a seamless whole favored by the architects—the project translates this approach into the design of an office and truck weighting area. The aim was to establish a modern identity within a provincial context through architectural language. Central to this vision was finding a material that could flow continuously from roof to wall without visual interruption. COLORBOND® steel in Night Sky Color provided the solution.
sa-rrsb-office-1The design process began with an arrangement of points, lines, and planes that set the building’s geometry and aligned it with the site’s main access axis. With its long-span, column-free structure, COLORBOND® steel roll-formed into a high-rib profile with seamless lengths clads the building continuously from roof to wall. The uninterrupted rib lines create the striking visual effect of coated steel wrapping and encasing the structure, forming a distinctive entrance to the covered facility while linking seamlessly to the concrete building behind. The linearity of the steel establishes a dynamic visual rhythm that defines the architecture.

Beyond shaping form, the use of COLORBOND® steel in Night Sky Color also integrates with another key feature: skylights cut into the roof. These openings direct daylight across the diagonally ridged metal surfaces, bringing natural light into the interior while adding depth and visual interest to the architecture.
